The ashy prinia or ashy wren-warbler (Prinia socialis) is a small warbler in the family Cisticolidae. This prinia is a resident breeder in the Indian subcontinent. Ranging across most of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, eastern Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and western Myanmar. It is a common bird in urban gardens and farmlands in many parts of India. Its small size, distinctive colors and upright tail make it easy to identify.
I had went to meet one of my friends that evening. She had recently moved to Pune for work and had rented an apartment with a couple of her own friends. We had been close friends in college, but hadn’t met in six months because she went home after we graduated.
Her place was a couple kilometers from mine. I decided to walk and take my camera with me. I didn’t find much on the way though.
We sat on her balcony, catching up, when this little bird flew in. Maybe it was attracted by the grass planted there and the little pots of various plants. I was grateful of having brought the camera and my zoom lens with me.
